Community college student saves newborn’s life with CPR

Sharing is Caring

Ryan Cornelissen, 21 years old,  was on his way to the bank, when he was flagged down by a frantic driver. The man’s wife had just given birth prematurely on the side of the road. They were on the way to the hospital, but didn’t make it that far. The husband was frantic because the baby was not breathing. Cornelissen called 911 and the dispatcher walked him through on how to perform CPR on an infant.

After the first performing CPR for a few minutes, the infant made a crying face and began whimpering. Mother and baby were taken to the hospital. The baby was doing fine and will spend a few weeks in the hospital.

Cornelissen wants to become a police officer. He definitely has what it takes to make a difference in at least one family’s life.
